PetPal is a pet adoption website that makes it easy to choose your next furry friend from shelters, rescues, and private owners. PetPal focuses on making the pet adoption process as simple and transparent as possible to increase the willingness of pet adoption.

Overview

For first-time adopters or those with relatively little pet care experience, PetPal offers detailed pet adoption guidelines and aftercare instructions to make the time spent with your adopted animal stress-free and enjoyable. As for those who are not yet ready to adopt a pet but still want to make a difference, PetPal also offers foster programmes and donations.Overall, with the spirit of ‘adoption instead of purchase’, PetPal hopes to help shelter and rescue dogs and cats find loving homes.

Problems

After doing competitor analyses of six stray animal adoption websites, I found several problems.

🫥

Very little adoption information and photos provided

🗣️

Adopters must contact the organisation themselves.

⚒️

Cluttered interface, unclear graphics, and too many advertisements

🚷

Only visits in person before adoption are allowed.

Users might be less willing to go through the website with patience, not to mention complete the entire adoption process and bring their ideal furry friends home.

Project Goals

Through this project, I aim to achieve the following goals:

Provide users with comprehensive pet profiles, including personality traits and health details, ensuring compatibility with their family situation.
Offer foster programs to support users who are undecided or financially unable to adopt, promoting temporary care for animals.
Facilitate online viewing and rescue center visits, streamlining the adoption process and reducing unnecessary trips.

Logo

As a non-profit platform, PetPal not only hopes to help stray animals find a warm home but also strives to promote ‘adoption instead of purchase’, hoping to reduce the number of stray animals as much as possible. Therefore, for the logo design, I chose to use the paws of pets in combination with a love icon to express the spirit of ‘mutual respect for life’ and ‘harmony between humans and animals’.

I have chosen dark and light blue as the main colours for the brand. Blue symbolises sincerity, stability, and harmony, and I hope to convey that PetPal will hold the hands of stray animals with equal love and care, helping them to find happiness.
